Homepage

What this is

The Homepage screen lets you change the front page of the shop - the first page people see at rmsnordic.com - without anyone touching code. You can:

  • Reorder the sections (move them up or down).
  • Show or hide any section.
  • Set the videos (the big video at the top, and the video further down).
  • Set the images in the highlights strip.
  • Change some titles and captions.

The front page is built from a list of sections, stacked top to bottom. This screen is that list.

How to open it

In the left menu, under Marketing, click Homepage. (Or press the Guide for this page button in the corner while you're on it.)

What you can do here

  1. Move a section up or down. Use the ↑ and ↓ arrows on the left of each section. The order on screen is the order on the real page.
  2. Hide a section. Flip its Shown / Hidden switch. Hidden sections stay in the list (with all their settings) but don't appear on the site.
  3. Edit a section. Click the section (or its Edit button) to open its settings. Only sections that have something to set will open.
  4. Save. Nothing changes on the real site until you press Save changes at the bottom. Until then you'll see an Unsaved changes note.

The sections

Section What it is What you can change
Discount banner The thin promo bar at the very top Show/hide, order. Its text comes from the active banner in Banners.
Hero (big top video) The full-screen video at the top with the title and buttons The background video, and optionally the title and the small text above it
Featured products A row of products Show/hide, order. Products come from what you mark as Featured.
Mid-page video The video block lower down with a title and caption The video, title, description and caption
Events & workshops A slider of upcoming events Show/hide, order. Filled from published Events.
Highlights gallery The scrolling strip of image cards The images (add, remove, reorder), plus a title and description
Shop by category The category tiles Show/hide, order

Changing a video

  1. Click the Hero (or Mid-page video) section.
  2. Next to Background video / Video, click Upload… and pick a video file from your computer.
  3. Wait for it to finish (it shows a small preview when done).
  4. Press Save changes.

Video tips:

  • Use an .mp4 file. That's what phones and browsers all play.
  • Keep it short and small. The top video is muted and loops, so a few seconds is plenty. Very large files make the page slow to load. Aim for well under ~30 MB if you can; the limit is 150 MB.
  • No sound is needed - the top video is always muted.

Changing the highlights images

  1. Click the Highlights gallery section.
  2. Press + Add image, then Upload… to choose a picture.
  3. Optionally add a caption and a link (where the card goes when clicked).
  4. Reorder or remove images with the arrows / Remove.
  5. Press Save changes.

If you leave the images empty, the site shows the built-in set of highlights.

Common mistakes

  • Pasting a Google Drive / YouTube / Dropbox link. Those are share pages, not video files - the video will not play. Always click Upload and pick the actual video file, or paste a direct link that ends in .mp4.
  • Forgetting to press Save. Changes only go live after Save changes.
  • Huge video files. A 300 MB clip won't upload (the limit is 150 MB) and even a large one that does upload will make the page slow. Trim it first.
  • Hiding everything. If a section looks "missing" on the site, check it's set to Shown here.
  • Wrong file type for a video. Upload .mp4 (or .webm). A .mov from a phone may need converting first.
